Presidential Campaign Strategist
Bill Hyers has been a partner in the Hilltop New York Office since 2014 and is one of the best political consultants in the country, with a reputation for steering underdog candidates to victory. In that role he has served as a senior strategist and general consultant to dozens of political campaigns and political organizations across the country including Senator Tammy Duckworth, the Democratic Governor’s Association, American Federation of Teachers, governor’s campaigns in New Jersey, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, Jim Kenney for Mayor in Philadelphia, and numerous U.S. House and Senate races. He also led the strategy on multiple ballot measures and issue campaigns, as well as helped guide Airbnb’s $25 million New York City campaign.
Prior to joining Hilltop, Hyers was one of the most successful campaign managers in the country. He was a finalist for “Campaign Manager of the Year” by the American Association of Political Consultants three times before winning the award after managing Bill de Blasio’s successful New York City mayoral campaign in 2013. On de Blasio’s campaign, Hyers guided an effort that New York’s papers dubbed “masterful” and “shrewd.” With polls showing de Blasio running in fourth weeks before the primary, Hyers and team had the discipline to stick to a well-conceived plan and eventually earned over 40 percent of the vote in the primary and a landslide victory in the general election.
Before joining de Blasio’s team in 2013, Hyers worked on many other high profile campaigns around the country. He managed Kirsten Gillibrand’s first run for Congress in 2006 and Michael Nutter’s 2007 campaign for Mayor of Philadelphia, both of which framed his reputation for running and winning upset campaigns. He also served as State Director for President Barack Obama’s campaign in Pennsylvania in 2012, managed Rybak for Mayor in Minneapolis, and Beshear for Governor of Kentucky.Hyers has been a staffer for 32 campaigns over 15 years, in 20 states ranging from Alaska to California to North Carolina including 4 presidential campaigns, senate races, governor races and many local races.
Hyers is a 2001 graduation of St. Cloud State University. Before entering politics, he served in the U.S. Army, working as a military police soldier in Korea, Colorado Springs and Bosnia during Operation Joint Endeavor.
